World Record Breaker

Burj Khalifa is also known as the tallest building in the world with a height of 829.8 meters. (2,722 ft). was previously known as Burj Dubai but they changed the name to honor their president. It took around 5 years of construction and was officially opened on the 4th of January 2010. As the tallest free-standing structure in the world, its elevator travels 504 meters traveling through the 163 floors breaking the previous record of the world trade center which had 110 floors. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed intended for this building to make Dubai and the UAE recognized by the world for something else besides being known as an oil-based economy city. The towering structure is composed of three pieces grouped around a central core and is based on an abstraction of the Hymenocallis flower. When viewed from above, it resembles the onion-dome pattern that may be found in a variety of Islamic architecture.
